Well, Twilight is next weekend. Am I racing you might ask. My response is...no. But I will definetly have enough beer while I am watching it. I haven't missed a Twilight since my first appearance in 2001. Who is coming?

I did ride my cross bike today. I just rode to the shop and back. Its just over 10 miles round trip or 16.09km. Km's sounds better.

The shop has been hectic, a good hectic at that. Lots of people enjoying their new rides and lots more getting old bikes repaired. One would think that after many of years of people pulling old bikes out of sheds that one day we would fix them all. But nope everyday I see someone pulling it out of their truck and either dragging or carrying it in.

Well that's it for now. Hammer products have arrived. More details will follow. Must get ready for early, early am run tomorrow.

Thanks for reading!

PERRY DOGWOOD 5K

My son Caden won his first award yesterday morning at the Perry Dogwood 5k. It was his first race. I have been running with Caden once or twice a week just to get used to running with a stroller. It is pretty hard work. Headwinds are difficult as well as hills but it makes a 5k a tad more interesting. My legs felt surprisingly good after feeling sluggish the day before b/c of a track run that turned into a speed session on Tuesday.

Caden and I finished with a time of 20:22 (that was on my Polar S625X). After reading my data on the monitor my avg. HR was 179 and my max HR was 197. Based on that I went pretty hard. Based on the splits on the course I was pretty much even on my miles. I have been working on even splits getting ready for the Stumpjump 50k in October. Slow and steady is was I have been doing. These 5k's are just for fun. I believe I will be doing the Run 4 Missions 5k on May 3 in Macon. I might do it solo just to see how I am progressing on speed. Then on May 31 is the XTERRA trail race at Dauset.

Thanks for reading! By the way I have not turned a pedal in anger since March 16. By not riding I have not had as many problems with my hiatel hernia.

My next post will be about Hammer Nutrition and I why I think it wokrs.

I am registered!

I have been running 3-4 days a week and my legs are coming around. I haven't really missed the bike. There was one day last week when I wanted to ride but I played with my son outside riding wheelies around his little car he cruises around in. He seemed to enjoy that.

Currently I am running in the Pearl Izumi Syncro Seek's on the road and for trail running I am running in the Syncro Seek 2. On the road shoes I wasn't to happy with them at first but once I tried this:

This helped completely. I really enjoy the shoes now. The trail shoes I haven't put enough miles on them yet to give you a good report.

Another training tool that I recently purchased was the Polar S625X. (I know I said i was using Sigma but the problem I have with them is that they don't have a HR that you can download your workouts to the computer and I like that function) I don't enjoy being on hold with Polar when you have a problem but hopefully no problems will occur.
